This course provides a grounding in generative artificial intelligence (AI) for university use. It covers core topics, platforms, ethics, and techniques that are relevant to all users, while also clarifying specific expectations for students at UWE Bristol.

While it’s possible to jump straight into using tools and platforms alongside your studies, we believe it’s essential to develop an understanding of what will be expected of you in an academic context. You will have responsibilities and there will be consequences that do not necessarily apply elsewhere.
We also want to highlight the need for critical approaches to AI outputs and the technologies themselves. Finally, we want to touch on where you can find some of the tools that UWE Bristol has secured for your use.
Through the course we want to provide awareness of key issues, access to powerful tools and provide you with agency to make informed decisions.
